DODGE CITY PASSES SMOKING ORDINANCE
The City Commission passed a smoking ordinance by a vote of 4-1 on September 15, 2008. It will require offices, restaurants, and bars to go smoke free or designate a separate smoking area that must be enclosed, have its own ventilation, and which employees cannot be required to enter. Businesses considering building a designated smoking area will have until April 1, 2009 to either become smoke free or complete the smoking area per the ordinance requirements. Designated smoking areas must be inspected by the city and a $100 permit purchased before they will be able to permit smoking.
