Hutchinson passed its current smoking ordinance on February 24, 2004. It became effective January 1, 2005 and requires restaurants without a seperatedly enclosed and ventilated smoking area to be smoke free. Since then tobacco control advocates have requested that the ordinance be updated, however the city council has yet to take action.

If you live in Hutchinson OR know someone who lives in Hutchinson who is in favor of a comprehensive smoke free ordinance, please have them write or call the City Council as soon as possible. If you send an e-mail ask the recipient to forward the email to their contacts in Hutchinson. Hutchinson residents, please make your feelings known.
